Fayette County Baptist Association will hold an evangelism rally Sept. 13-14 at Warren Community Baptist Church, Somerville, with Roc Collins, director of evangelism for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

A 19-member team, representing six churches from Western District Baptist Association, worked July 8-15 with Restoration Church in New Orleans, La. Restoration is a church plant that has moved into a church that has closed. The team worked with renovation on the building and outreach. [Read more…]

Members of First Baptist Church, Manchester, are on a missions trip to south Boston this week (July 10-16).

Antioch Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church, both in Benton, have merged. The church name will remain Antioch Baptist. John Cain is pastor.

Members of Calvue Baptist Church, Morristown, will celebrate the church’s 75th anniversary on Aug. 6. The church was organized on July 27, 1942. Worship begins at 10 a.m. with lunch following in the fellowship hall. [Read more…]

Green River Baptist Church, Waynesboro, recently paid off its debt on its children’s building.

First Baptist Church, Cookeville, will host “A Night of Orange and White” with Phillip Fulmer, former head football coach at the University of Tennessee, on Thursday, Aug. 3. A tailgating meal will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main event at 7 p.m. For more information, including cost, contact the church at 931-526-7108.

Fairview Baptist Church, Corryton, will host a “A Night of Orange and White” with Phillip Fulmer, former head football coach at the University of Tennessee, on Thursday, Aug. 10. Steven Flippo

Steven D. Flippo began serving June 12 as the new director of missions for the Lawrence County Association of Baptists. He previously was pastor of congregational care at Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals, Ala. He also served as a missionary with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board in South Africa for nine years. Flippo holds degrees from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Cordova, and Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Okla. He and his wife, Cala, have four grown children.

Calvary Baptist Church, Humboldt, has called Tony Crossnoe as pastor.

Harmony Baptist Church, Stanton, near Brownsville, held revival services April 23-26. One person made a profession of faith. Speakers included Ron Davidson, Dale Denning, David Worley, Danny Sinquefield, and Todd Brady.

Every Sunday School class and department of Meridian Baptist Church, Knoxville, has been challenged to hold an “An Outreach of Love” during April and May. These efforts can be acts of kindness or the distribution of Bibles or tracts to those who don’t know the Lord, said Dana L. Fachman, pastor. Also, the youth of the church will work for members to prepare for a missions trip “as a sign that they are willing to work while on the trip,” reported Chris Fachman, associate pastor and minister to students. Joe and Linda Ledford, Mission Service Corps missionaries with the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board based in Chilhowee Baptist Association, Alcoa, are retiring. They have served 20 years, eight in Canada and 12 in Townsend where they lead C.H.A.R.M. (CHilhowee ARea Ministries). Brace Baptist Church, Summertown, celebrated its 100th anniversary celebration on April 9. A luncheon followed the morning worship service and then an Easter egg hunt for children was held.

For the fourth year in a row, Carson-Newman University’s forensics team won the Tennessee Intercollegiate Forensics Association state championship. Capturing the university’s ninth state championship in 11 years, the Carson-Newman team placed first with a total of 325 points, while the team from Middle Tennessee State placed second with 165 points.

Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, based in Cordova, and Crossroads Baptist Church, Eads, will present the passion play, “The Scarlet Thread,” April 7-9 in the chapel of Mid-America Seminary.
